      Named for the last ship to be built in the attractive regency town of Aberaeron, this old-style single-bar pub offers a friendly welcome and lively conversation. Popular for its sports coverage, mainly rugby and racing. Guest beers from a wide range of small and regional breweries. Colourful hidden garden at the rear and a small pavement drinking area at the front is a suntrap. Opposite is a free, but busy harbourside public car park. Gwynt y Ddraig range of bottled ciders are available. Opens on a Monday and from noon from about March.

      Part of a recently refurbished hotel, this cafe-bar has many tables laid for meals, two big screens, and background music, but there's a pubbier corner with bench seating, and at weekends there's sometimes asing-song round the piano.       A light and airy bar forming part of a boutique hotel that caters to both Welsh and English speaking customers with its bilingual signage and staff.       This town-centre mid-terrace bar provides a modern cozy atmosphere in which to enjoy a drink. At the front of the building is a relaxed area with comfy armchairs and wooden tables, and at the rear a number of booth-like high tables. At the very back is a small garden with tables and chairs which is a suntrap in the summer months. The Bottle and Barrel offers a mixture of Welsh products and National guest beers as its main focus with fourteen keg lines half of which are live beer, and two Real Ale pumps. A large screen behind the bar lists the beers on offer and there is a live feed to the bar's website. There is also a selection of Welsh Gins and Mead and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are always willing to provide a taster or advice on the drinks available. Although no food is served, patrons can bring their own with them or order takeaways to be delivered. There is also a large range of bottled and canned beers and ciders that are available to drink on the premises or can be taken away at a discounted purchase price.       Impressive brick and terracotta building built 1910 for the local Roberts brewery, but radically opened up inside to give single-room interior. Large etched windows indicating the original usage of the different pub areas such as Luncheon Room. Two iron pillars dominate the bar, now used as a support for the lights. A popular venue to watch Six Nations rugby - Wales enthusiastically and knowledgeably supported but all made most welcome.

      Aberystwyth's newest pub (as opposed to bar), opened April '13. The meet-and-greet service style seems to be applied less assiduously of late, so with luck you may escape being asked "Will you be dining with us today?". The food, while centrally supplied, is serviceable, but in a town not well supplied with food pubs the bland corporate style here still represents something of a missed opportunity. The beers are believed to be dispensed under the 'Fast Cask' system. An occasional seasonal Marston's beer.

      Known, for many years, as The Varsity, until Feb 2015 when it reverted to its original name. Now serving up to five Welsh real ales and a number of interesting ciders. This wheelchair accessible, large, town centre pub has seating on two levels, and multiple 'sports' TVs throughout. Good value food with a wide range of choices and themes, from breakfast to an evening meal are available all week.

      Saved from the threat of closure after being bought, against all expectation, to be run as a pub, this gem of a pub with its nationally important interior is selling real ale for the first time in some three decades. That in itself exemplifies the new life that has been brought to the place. The few physical changes have also been positive - carpet tiles removed, revealing slate floor, and excellent decorations including photo of Cemmaes Road signalbox (the pub is opposite the Beeching-closed station) and 1935 local eisteddfod poster, found in loft, which evokes a vanished but still resonant way of life. Unmissable, but obviously to be treated with respect. In the evening delicious locally made pork pies are served with pickles.

      Named after what used to be the main trade of the townsfolk of Corris, this grade II listed three-roomed village pub is popular with locals and visitors staying at nearby hostels and campsites. The main bar has some traditional features such as slate flooring and a decorative mantelshelf above a large inglenook fireplace. The bar furniture is all new and was hand built by a local craftsman. There is now a comfy snug on the left as you enter the front door.

      Walkers, families and well behaved dogs are welcome, dogs are served water from a cask in the corner! Customers are welcome to sample the 3 ales on offer in the form of a 1/3 pint platter for the price of a pint. Good value meals are in he evening and for Sunday lunch, takeaway food also available. Wednesday is Curry & Pint night. A folk night is held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month and this brings musicians from all over Mid-Wales. Occasional live entertainment (Fri/Sat).

      Friendly pub situated in a pretty village with historic connections to the Methodist revival in the 1700s. The landlord is an enthusiastic supporter of real ale and the pub serves two, normally Wye Valley Butty Bach and another from a Welsh brewery, often Evan Evans or Monty's. There is a main bar, small dining room and function room. The outside seating area overlooks the village square and is a lovely place to enjoy a beer in the evening sun. The Outside Inn is a beautifully constructed wooden undercover drinking area with TV showing sporting fixtures. Pool,three dartboards and WiFi jukebox in the function room. Excellent value evening meals and Sunday lunch with home-cooked specials. Monthly open mic night.

      After a refurbishment programme the White Swan reopened in November 2016, a year after its closure had left the village without a pub. Dylan Jones is the owner and he has completely refurbished the pub in a contemporary style. This deceptively large pub has a modern public bar, a cosy lounge, a small dining room, a pool room and a function room with separate bar. The home cooked food is good value and comes in generous portions. Check their Facebook page for details of the regular special food nights. Bingo nights each week. A second beer, often from a Welsh brewery, is served at busier times.

      Opposite Owain Glyndwr's Parliament House on the town's broad main street. Real cider is often available in summer. The building was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1911 with the present magnificent frontage. Look above the fireplace in the right hand bar for "Before" and "After" pictures.

      The Wynnstay is an old fashioned town centre hotel. Drinkers can enjoy a pint and a chat in the small quiet bar, or in the back room called the 'Cwtch' by the cosy log fire. The hotel is renowned for its great locally sourced food. Food theme nights are held regularly. In June the Wynnstay holds a beer festival which prioritizes matching beers with appropriate dishes.

      Smartly refurbished large pub perched on one of New Quay's steep streets which makes much of its Dylan Thomas connection. Stunning sea views from the large garden with children's play area. Dogs are allowed in the garden via the footbridge to the side of the pub but not in the pub. There is seating in the main bar where a large TV screen dominates when a big game is on. There is also a tiny and cosy room off the main bar with one table and a separate dining room. The food is of good value and quality. There may only be Doom Bar on offer at quieter times but there may be up to three beers in busier months. Nine en-suite letting bedrooms. Car park is for hotel guests only, there is a public pay and display car park three minutes walk away.

      This classic welsh country pub is arranged on two levels. The main bar is cosy with low overhead beams, a comfy sofa can be found next to a real fire. Decorated with old fashioned farming and drinking paraphernalia. Steak night every friday and Sunday roasts are served all day. Homecooked food can be taken away between 12pm-2:30pm and 9pm-11pm.

      This large seafront hotel in the centre of New Quay is owned by Brains and is very popular with visitors to this pretty seaside town. Inside there is plenty of seating whilst outside there is a large terrace with sturdy wooden furniture and great sea views. Dogs are allowed on the patio. Good value food from a standard Brains offers good choices for all the family, and the pub gets busy with diners during the season. Two Brains beers are on offer in the winter and three during the summer and at other busier times. The third beer during the summer is often Rev James Gold.

      This welcoming one-roomer, decorated with fascinating old photographs and cartoons, offers two real ales from Evan Evans (perhaps just one at the quietest times) in winter and one or two Westons ciders. Quiz night is Thursday, poker Sundays, open mic fortnightly. Small patio with benches can catch the sun. Generously filled crusty rolls are available while stocks last. This is one of the few pubs in New Quay which welcomes dogs - they are normally greeted with a fuss and a dog biscuit and there is a charity tin on the bar for the Dogs Trust.

      This delightfully rustic and cosy pub with its flagstone floor and bar spanning two rooms was featured in recent TV series "Hinterland". The Halfway Inn was also the first pub in Wales to offer self service beer although sadly this practice has now been discontinued. Good value food is served in the evening and also available at lunchtimes during the summer holidays. The rest of the year the pub is only open Friday afternoon/Saturday all day and Sunday for lunch.

      Medium sized road-side holstelry, food led also providing a friendly reception for drinkers in a seperate bar. Owned by Enterprise Inns but run by highly professional tennants who've been there since 2003. Food is varied, well cooked, well presented and plentiful. Efficient and friendly staff makes for a really pleasant dining experience. Member of the 'Brit-Stop' scheme which allows free overnight parking for motor homes in exchange for your custom over the bar.

      This heritage pub of immense character offers a choice of rooms - front bar with open fire and huge beams, snug with inglenook fireplace and rear public bar with TV. Winner of several CAMRA awards including West Wales Pub of the Year 2015. Two real ales in winter, three in summer from breweries in Wales and the Borders. The pub is listed in the Michelin Guide and excellent quality food is served in the bars and restaurant. The menu includes local meat, fish and cheese and good vegetarian options. Rear patio and a large, beautifully landscaped beer garden with a memorial to the circus elephant reputedly buried here. Dogs are welcome in the bars and garden. Winter opening hours may vary.

      Marston's owned pub in fantastic setting in small village on the Wales Coast Path. Large airy open-plan bar and conservatory with sea views. Covered outside seating area and decking area with wooden tables and some of the best sea views from a pub in Ceredigion. Excellent quality food served from 12-9 every day (booking is advisable at busy times) ranging from posh sandwiches to a full three course meal and excellent specials. Breakfast is available for non-residents. Very small car park and limited on-street parking – it is best to park higher up in the village and walk down to the seafront at peak periods. The four en-suite rooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard and have balconies with sea-views. A third beer is available at busy times. The pub may shut at 9.30pm out of season.
